Mary Helen’s Dishes Out Down South Flavor

This was a big issue for me. I had two articles (the first "Carol's Daughter Teams Up with Disney") published and took the entire Lifestyles section. I hope you all take the time to read the articles, as I work very hard on them and look toward improving with every issue.
Check for photos and restaurant information after the jump. Enjoy!!

Carol’s Daughter Teams Up With Disney

Tommy’s Satisfies Customers’ Wallets and Appetites

I decided to restructure the format in which I post my articles for the Hampton Script. After all, it's my blog, why not customize it a little bit. I hope the change is welcomed and continue reading for photos of the restaurant!

The Arrival

I am truly just a happy little boy this evening. Earlier today, I heard on the radio the SATC 2 trailer would be premiering tonight and look, it is here!! As though it could get any better, it just did. I have already watched the trailer five times and will more than likely refer back to it as the night progresses. The trailer and photos from filming are all after the jump. Enjoy!!

“That’s the kind of girl I like”

The Spring-Summer ad campaign for Lanvin is all about motion. Creative director, Alber Elbaz said, "I thought maybe we need a bit of action," to Miles Socha of WWD. Featuring model Jamie Bochert, I think the ad is a stunner. I loved the Spring-Summer presentation in the black and white of the beginning and loads of color and all of the glitter Paris had to offer by the end. Elbaz staged a glorious scene with the girls walking down an impossibly long runway with vintage film lights to line the foggy runway in an industrial type building.

It's Monday...

It has really been a fantastic day. I drove into Santa Monica, battled the fact my usual and stress free parking lot was turned into an ice skating rink (so if you're on the corner of Arizona & 5th, you have been warned), and met up with my friend Autumn to have lunch at Wokcano. I had never been, nor had she, and we both loved it. The ambiance was exactly what I love: dark, sleek, and chic.

The Olsens

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are in one word: superstars. They are some of the hardest working girls in the business and serious fashionistas. Perusing through Style.com this afternoon, I took this feature entitled, "What Would the 00's Have Been Without the Olsens?" And I thought, they're right! What would it have been like without them? Promoting venti Starbucks latte's, the biggest of big [designer] sunglasses, the literal poster girls for bohemian chic - they're kind of amazing and I love them. Check out the slideshow Style.com has of the girls, it's so great. It begins with the girls in magenta and turquoise tube tops with their perfect blonde hair and ends with Ashley in Azzedine Alaïa and Mary-Kate in Giambattista Valli. *amaze*

Triumph Magazine

For my Intro to Visual Media class, we were asked to create a print publication, photographic essay or video production as our final project. My group chose to do a print publication, Triumph Magazine, which is a lifestyle magazine for those interested in fashion, love, arts and culture. Basically, it's a little bit of something for everyone!

NINE

Photo: Collider.com
I simply have to share how excited I am about NINE, set for release December 25, 2009. From director Rob Marshall, of Chicago, comes this absolutely glamourous story of Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a world famous film director as he confronts an epic mid-life crisis with both creative and personal problems. He must balance the many women of his life, including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren), according to IMDb.

Marc Jacobs for Interview Magazine June 2008

On Critics:
"For people who are all about change-people who are supposed to be intellectually and culturally drawn to the idea of change and how the voice of a creative person affects the world on a bigger scale than just the canvas-I would expect a person in that position to have that open mind."

December Mags

Last Friday, I finally took the time to catch up on my magazine reading. I feel like I have just neglected my magazines this semester, because after reading all day long for school, I simply cannot read anymore - even it is my handy Vogue.
So just wanted to share some magazines I found really great in the month of December.

Lara Stone: Face of Louis Vuitton Spring 2010

Current British Vogue covergirl and Dutch model du jour, Lara Stone is the new face of the Spring 2010 ad campaign for Louis Vuitton.

Having featured Madonna for the past two ad campains, artistic director, Marc Jacobs, is said to have wanted to work with a supermodel.

The ad, shot by Steven Meisel, was described as fresh, summery, whimsical, young and optimistic by Antoine Arnault, Vuitton's communication director.
Looks pretty fab to me.

'Do the Naomi Campbell Walk'

It appears Beyonce is not the only one vying to do the Naomi Campbell walk, as reports have surfaced of the supermodel in talks to do a X Factor-style modeling show in the UK.

“The proposed show would see Campbell take on a group of budding young models, offering them advice and criticism and whittling them down to a winner” reported British Vogue.

Her spokesperson explained to the Daily Mail, “Naomi has been approached with an offer, which we are talking about and discussing. An initial approach has been made. We are discussing that offer, but nothing is set in stone yet.”

NARS de Celébration

Forget Christmas pajamas, eggnog, or anything else traditional of the holidays - this season, I am looking to cuddle up with the NARS 15X15 Book

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary with 15X15, Founder and Creative Director, François Nars, has put together a collection of 15 celebrity portraits all styled and photographed by Nars himself.

The collection of models and designers who appear in the book is a serious testament to Nars' genius. Look for Tyson Ballou in the Monoi Body Glow II, the impossibly stunning Naomi Campbell in Taj Mahal Blush, Marc Jacobs in Dovima Nail Polish (with seductive red lips), runway goddess Natasha Poly in Rated R Duo Eyeshadow and Olivier Theyskens in LoveJoy Blush.

Shanghai Extravagence

Digressing from finals week preparation, I wanted to share the Chanel Pre-Fall 2010 show. The full title of the show is actually the Paris-Shanghai Métiers d'Art Collection.

Only Mr. Lagerfeld could construct such an event. It was magical the way the skyline, waterfront, glittering disco-ball and boats became a live backdrop to the impossibly grand runway.

To me, this is fashion: the beauty, the vision, simply this awesome construction of something truly glamorous.

The Beginning

Currently, I am a staff writer for the Lifestyles section of the Hampton Script at Hampton University.

This was my very first article for the Script. I was so nervous, hoping to get published, and just very green to the entire newspaper process.

Unfortunately, the Script is not online, however, I will be posting my articles on my blog for all of you to read. Any feedback would be more than welcomed.
Thanks!
